COVID Modelling: Part 2
Now that we have the models downloaded and the software installed, let’s explore the Australia-wide model.
Dr Allen is the Head of Research at Incept Labs and has significant experience of research project management and clinical practice in both disability and education.
After qualifying as an audiologist in 2010, he worked for several years as a clinical audiologist for Hearing Australia in both country Victoria and Brisbane, including a significant partnership with Yulu-Burri-Ba Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health in which he managed an outreach service in Capalaba and on Minjerribah.
He was awarded a PhD at the University of Queensland for his work on the conceptualisation of patient- and family-centred care for emerging adults with hearing difference in 2019, and went on to a Senior Research Audiologist role at the National Acoustic Laboratories where he led two major projects for the Australian Government Department of Health: defining outcomes for the provision of hearing aids in the Hearing Services Program (2019) and establishing eligibility criteria for the provision of hearing aids in the Hearing Services Program (2020).
After joining Incept Labs as Head of Research in 2021, he led a project to explore the nature of Cultural Responsiveness in First Nations education for the Australian Education Research Organisation, and has been an investigator on a number of projects including the development of a professional competency framework and microcredential framework for the Institute of Public Accountants, the evaluation of supervising pre-service teacher modules for the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, and the development of a core outcome set for the delivery of cochlear implant services by teleaudiology for Cochlear Limited and Curtin University.
He holds an Honorary Research Fellowship at Macquarie University, Master degrees in Biostatistics and Public Health, and Graduate Statistician status with the Statistical Society of Australia. Dr Allen was an invited peer reviewer for the 2021 NHMRC Synergy Grants.
